The chase took place around 3 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, when police attempted to stop a vehicle with two men suspected of stealing packages that had been delivered to homes in Yonkers, said Yonkers Police Det. Sgt. Dean Politopoulos.
According to Politopoulos, when police attempted to stop the vehicle, the men refused to stop and traveled at a high rate of speed down Central Park Avenue northbound in the southbound lanes, slamming into six parked cars as they fled.
When the vehicle eventually crashed, the two men jumped out and ran. They were eventually captured by officers, Politopoulos said.
The three officers were involved in a separate crash while chasing the suspect vehicle, Politopoulos said.
They were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Politopoulos was not sure of their condition.
The two suspects were also taken to the hospital for injuries incurred when they crashed.
Police said the men were under investigation for being involved in a pattern of delivery package larcenies.
The names of the two men arrested have not been released.
